Speech Title: Risk Sharing across Emerging Economies. What Can We learn from them?

Abstract: This paper examines the channels of risk sharing across emerging markets. We have employed    macroeconomic channels to quantify the extent of the risk sharing across different  subgroups. We have found that bulk of risk sharing depends on credit markets(saving) channel whereas the impact of the capital markets (net factor income) are increasing across Emerging markets in particular in the developing East Asian markets in the last decade. Novel to the literature, we decomposed net factor income channel and explored that income payments for foreign liabilities exhibits procyclical behaviour with domestic output shocks and smooth the domestic output shocks. Unlike OECD members, the impact of the income inflows on risk sharing is minimal. Further analysis on the factor income channel show that the impact of the foreign equity inflows is quite influential(positively) in explaining the extent of the factor income channel. As equity portfolio inflows increases, the extent of the risk sharing across net factor income(and outflows) increases. We also decompose the savings channel into government and show that government and household savings are making a big bulk of the national channel and government channel’s impact have been affected severely after the GFC period.

Title of the speech: Crack Big Data and Super Web in Finance and Economics

Abstract: The information available for research in finance and economics can be considered as ``big data’’ when we include a tremendous amount of unstructured data, such as various texts from media.  Moreover, data usually do not exist in isolation but in a connected manner. For instance, the sales information of customer firm A can be important for supplier firm B as well. In an overview of the literature including some of my own studies, I describe various methods used in cracking big data (e.g., textual analysis) and data networks.

Speech Title:  Data-driven public R&D project performance evaluation

Abstract: In public R&D projects, to improve the decision-making process and ensure the sustainability of public investment, it is indispensable to effectively evaluate the project performance. Currently, public R&D project management departments and various academic databases have accumulated a large number of project-related data. In view of this, we propose a data-driven performance evalu-ation framework for public R&D projects. In our framework, we collect structured and unstructured data related to completed projects from multiple websites. Then these data are cleaned and fused to form a unified dataset. We train a project performance evaluation model by extracting the project performance information implicit in the dataset based on multi-classification supervised learning algorithms. When facing a new project that needs to be evaluated, its performance can be automat-ically predicted by inputting the characteristic information of the project into our performance evaluation model. Our framework is validated based on the project data of National Natural Sci-ence Foundation of China (NSFC) in terms of four performance measures (i.e., Accuracy, Recall, Precision, F1 score).

Title of Speech:

The Effect of Global Value Chain Participation and Position on Energy Efficiency: Evidence from BRI Countries

Abstract:

The study's primary objective is to analyze the effects of GVC on energy efficiency considering BRI countries.  This study further examines the complex relations amongst GVC; the energy efficiency and economic growth nexus provided the threshold variables intermediating the link; the results of Global innovate value chain on volatility shocks. And our outcomes are crucial to formulating sustainable development strategies geared towards allocating energy resources to increase access to energy globally. This outcome of this study offers an opportunity for the Chinese government and the stakeholders to evaluate and monitor the success of the BRI program in the short term and the long-term phases. This study is projecting the benefits and the extent of the attractiveness of the BRI program to the global world.

Speech Title: Dynamic Mechanism Design on Social Networks

Abstract: This paper studies a mechanism design problem with networked agents and stochastically evolving private information. In contrast to the canonical mechanism design theory focusing mainly on the information issues, we pay more attention to impacts of the topology of social network. We find the standard first-order approach for mechanism design is not applicable in our dynamic environment. As a remedy, a novel ironing technique is proposed, which produces a perfectly sorting allocation. Based on the optimal dynamic mechanism obtained, we define and compare some important nodes and links in a network (including key customer, top influencer, key link and stable link) for different ranges of synergy parameter. We further discuss the network intervention problem where a central planner allocate optimally a finite budget among multiple tasks of changing the means and variances of agents' initial types. Also, we discuss the applications of our result in economic problems such as the choice of airline, the identification and quarantine of key infestor in epidemic prevention and control .

Speech Title: Research on system and environment of service economy for acceleration

Abstract: As economy gradually becomes stable, we are now living in the"post-pandemic" era with regular epidemic prevention. At this time, the system design and environment protection of service economy, springing from its structure's transformation, optimization and improvement, determine the steadiness of national economy. Based on in-depth study of sample district's current situation, opportunities and challenges on service economy, our research conducts an effective analysis of system defects and environment problems. After consulting experience of home and abroad, we suggest that the system and environment should be improved from four aspects – institution, mechanism, policy and circumstances, so as to promote the sound and steady development of service economy.

Speech Title: Basic paradigms, cases and trends of financial expenditure performance evaluation

Abstract: Paying attention to the performance evaluation of financial expenditure is an important embodiment of implementing the comprehensive budget performance management. At present, financial expenditure performance evaluation focuses on post evaluation, which is divided into two paradigms: qualitative evaluation and quantitative evaluation, but there are great differences in evaluation methods and evaluation index system. Through the introduction of two cases of financial expenditure performance evaluation, this paper makes an in-depth explanation. On this basis, it points out the development trend and focus of performance evaluation of fiscal expenditure in the future.
